Renatta M. Cooper, (Picture not shown) made a passionate statement saying, “I had no
idea how to support a family through this, but I knew I needed to learn.” Then she proceeded to say, “It’s not all about you. You got to take your ego out of
it and think about what’s best for this child and, you care about them enough
to help them transition to what comes next and what’s best.”

I felt
that in this quote from Ms. Cooper, she’s saying it’s our responsibility to not
fail our children of today. We are to meet all challenges head on in-spite of
uncomfortableness or lack of familiarity. It's always gratifying to see a child succeed knowing that you made a difference in someone's life.
Lewanda, I really enjoyed reading your post on the topic of " profound quotes from educators" and your explanation about the quote you chose from Ms. Coopers interview! It is very important to meet all challenges and use the supports and resources available to us to help all children succeed!
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie,
DeleteI agree 100%. In week 5 Professor Emeritus from Pacific Oak college, CA Louise Derman-Sparks; mentioned how she was placed in an uncomfortable circumstance when asked to go to Germany. She had to put her personal feelings aside to meet the needs of the Early Childhood population. Ms. Cooper and Ms. Louise Derman-Sparks as well as all ECE agree that ones personal feelings must be put aside to meet any challenges at hand for the child and its family.
